In collaboration with the Circular Economy Network, in the circular economy sector, the Sustainable Development Award 2024 was presented to Decathlon, together with Oldrati Group and ESO Recycling, for the production of the Hike 100 ice crampons. These crampons are made with a compound containing 40–50% rubber derived from the recycling of end-of-life inner tubes, thanks to the use of an innovative industrial-scale devulcanization process.

The Sustainable Development Award 2024, promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Italian Exhibition Group SpA, under the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, has reached its fourteenth edition this year. The award was presented in recent days during ECOMONDO.

We are particularly proud of this recognition, which highlights the commitment of our brand esosport in the collection and management of worn-out inner tubes and tires. Our ESOboxes are currently available in 86 Decathlon Italy stores, helping to close the circle of the circular economy with an innovative and sustainable project.

From the collection of end-of-life sports equipment to its transformation into new products, this project represents a concrete example of the circular economy in action!
