From Shoes to Track: The “Sports for Everyone” Project Takes Off

23 December 2025

With the installation of collection points inside the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Palidoro and San Paolo, in Rome, the project dedicated to creating the “Pheidippides Track” enters its operational phase.

Collection points for used sports shoes have been set up inside the facilities, which will be recycled by ESO RECYCLING – Società Benefit arl and transformed into secondary raw materials for the flooring of the future “Pheidippides Track.”

The track will be built in the outdoor spaces of the hospital and will become a fundamental support for neurorehabilitation programs, offering children a dedicated place for movement, play, and freedom.

“The Pheidippides Track” is part of the broader initiative “Sports for Everyone,” created by the UOC of DH of Neurorehabilitation and Adapted Sports Activity and promoted by the Bambino Gesù Foundation, with the contribution of several partners who share the project’s vision, starting with the GoGreen Association, the GNAO1 Families Association APS, the Decathlon Italia Foundation, and the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital itself.

To support the construction of the track, a fundraising campaign is active:
