How esosport bike works
Every year in Italy, approximately 2 million bicycle tires and around 2 million bike inner tubes are disposed of in general waste, totaling about 1,050 tons annually.
esosport® was created to collect and recycle bicycle tires and inner tubes. When properly recycled, these materials can be transformed into secondary raw material to produce shock-absorbing surfaces for playgrounds and athletics tracks, within the non-profit projects “Betty’s Garden” and “Pietro’s Track.”
The initiative is aimed at bicycle shops, bike-sharing services, and municipalities that want to ensure proper waste management, helping to reduce landfill accumulation.
Participation involves providing the esosport® Starter Kit, which includes containers for collecting used inner tubes and tires.
The Starter Kit consists of:
- 1 pole (2 meters high) with crowner for organized tire collection
- 1 ESObox esosport® bike for inner tube collection (measures 80x60x60 cm)
- 500 leaflets to inform customers about the project
- 20 esosport® bike keychains
- 20 esosport® bike water bottles
- 2 shop window stickers
The esoSport Bike service handles the collection and transportation of inner tubes and tires from the shop to the storage center for subsequent material recovery.
The ultimate goal of the collection is to produce secondary raw material through a careful grinding process of the rubber from inner tubes and tires. This material, through the GOGREEN Onlus association, is donated free of charge to public administrations for the construction of Betty’s Gardens (dedicated to Elisabetta Salvioni Meletiou) and Pietro’s Track (a project dedicated to Pietro Mennea).
The environment will thank you!
