Betty’s Gardens are today a valuable reality in the Italian landscape, where solidarity goes hand in hand with respect for the environment.
Elisabetta Salvioni Meletiou, wife of Nicolas Meletiou, supported her husband with dedication, sensitivity, and balance in the conception and development of the esosport project, contributing significantly to its growth and its founding values. Her constant commitment and thoughtful vision represented an important point of reference for the entire project.
Elisabetta followed every stage of the initiative with passion, actively supporting the spread of a culture focused on sustainability, material recovery, and respect for the environment. Her presence was instrumental in transforming an innovative idea into a project capable of generating value for the community.
Until July 2, 2011, the day of her untimely passing, she continued to dedicate herself with commitment and discretion to this initiative. In her memory, the project “Betty’s Garden” was created, a tangible symbol of the values she always believed in: care, responsibility, and attention to people and the environment.
The project involves the creation or redevelopment of playgrounds, built with innovative and sustainable impact-absorbing surfaces obtained through the recycling process of end-of-life sports shoes, tennis and padel balls, bicycle tyres, and inner tubes.
This solution makes it possible to transform end-of-life materials into new safe, durable, and high-performance surfaces, ideal for spaces dedicated to play and outdoor activities. In addition to ensuring high safety standards for children and users, the project actively contributes to waste reduction and the promotion of a circular economy.
The impact-absorbing surfaces developed offer resistance to weather conditions, ease of maintenance, and a reduced environmental impact, while enhancing urban and school environments with functional and eco-friendly solutions.
The initiative therefore represents a perfect balance between innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility, with the aim of creating inclusive, safe, and environmentally respectful spaces for today’s and future communities.
